Red Mountain Golf Club
Red Mountain Golf Club is one of Phuket’s most dramatic and visually impressive golf courses, located in Kathu in the centre of Phuket Island. Built on the rugged terrain of a former tin mine, the course winds through red laterite cliffs, jungle-covered hills, flooded canyons, and natural elevation changes, creating a memorable and challenging Phuket golf experience.
Designed by Jonathan Morrow, with Al Tikkanen also credited by some golf travel sources, Red Mountain opened in 2007 and is known for its striking scenery, strategic layout, and demanding shot-making. The course plays to par 72 and measures close to 6,900–7,000 yards from the back tees, with highlights including the elevated 16th hole and the famous downhill par-3 17th. With clubhouse dining, a pro shop, locker rooms, practice facilities, compulsory carts, and easy access from Phuket’s main resort areas, Red Mountain is a standout addition to any Phuket golfing getaway.
