The city’s golf scene encompasses everything from prestigious private members’ clubs dating back to the colonial era, to outstanding resort and public access courses stretching from the Swan River to the spectacular coastline. Perth golfers are spoilt for choice, with over 100 courses within an hour’s drive of the city centre.
Best Time to Play Golf in Perth
April to November is the golden window for golf in Perth. Autumn and winter bring mild temperatures in the low-to-mid 20s, low humidity, and firm fairways. Spring (September to November) is arguably the most spectacular time, with wildflowers in bloom, lush green courses, and perfect playing conditions. Summer (December to March) can be hot with temperatures regularly exceeding 35°C, making early morning tee times essential.
Golf Course Style & Character
Perth’s golf courses encompass an outstanding variety of styles. Coastal links courses battle Indian Ocean sea breezes and feature sandy, fast-draining terrain. Inland parkland layouts wind through suburban bushland and along the Swan River. The Sandalford and Swan Valley region offers scenic river views, while the hills east of the city provide challenging elevated terrain. Several courses are ranked among Australia’s top 100.
